Inducted in 2011 into the National Wrestling Hall of FAme, Dennis Hall is one of few wrestlers to hold the title of a 3x Olympian. In 1992, Dennis Hall won the Olympic Team Trials and entered into his first Olympic Games competition in Barcelona, Spain. At Barcelona, he finished eighth. Again, in 1996 he claimed the championship at the Olympic Team Trials. Hall continued to wrestle to success at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta where he took home the silver medal. Hall made a third trip to the Olympic Games in Athens, Greece in 2004.
Coach Hall is one of the decorated Greco-Roman wrestlers in our U.S. History. Halls prominent achievements include winning the championships at the 1995 and 1999 Pan American Games. He also won the 2000 Pan American Championships which qualified his weight class for the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia. He placed 2nd in the 1999 Nordvest Cup in Norway. In addition, Hall claimed the World Team Trials Championships seven times (1990, 1993-95, 1997-99) and is a ten-time U.S. National Champion (1992-2001). In 1995, Hall became the second U.S. Greco-Roman wrestler ever to win a World Championships, having to beat five former World Champions to claim that title. Hall was the Champion of the Sunkist International Tournament in 2001 and 2002, claiming Outstanding Wrestler of the 2001 tournament. He propelled the United States Greco program forward in a time when it was struggling to establish itself on the world stage.
His intense style and "refuse to lose" attitude helped show other wrestlers that Americans COULD win internationally. Dennis was one of the toughest and most competitive athletes in his sport, and wrestled each opponent with a focus and tenacity that was inspiring. He brought this attitude to every competition and now brings it every day to the practice room as a Coach.
After a year as the Head Greco-Roman Coach at the US Olympic Center in Michigan, Dennis returned to Stevens Point to provide quality coaching instruction to wrestlers through his company, World Gold Wrestling (WGW). Hall provides camps, clinics, clubs and private lessons to wrestlers of all ages. He is a true athlete and inspiration, not only to young wrestlers, but to everyone he comes in contact with... a self-made champion who is living proof that attitude and willpower can help you realize your goals and dreams.
Currently residing in Plover, WI, Dennis is married to Chrissy and they have four children together; Tyler, Brandon, Jake and Alyssa.
